Nick's team finally won a tournament this year. Wow, it was wonderful. I just love the families on this team. The team has changed some because Jeff is now the coach. He has moved down to Nick and Michael will have a new coach for the 2009 season. Jeff wanted to get the kids together this fall for a few tournaments and this weekend we were in St. Louis. Tim was able to play because we had 2 kids that couldn't make it.
This team is skilled! We beat every team in 4 innings. The championship game was a bit more challenging but we still won in 4 innings. The pitcher for the opposing team was good (he threw hard and a curve ball) but boy, our kids hit him hard. The final score was 8-0. The kids came home with their first 1st place trophy.
Home at 10, up around 6 and back at school. School- we're having a hard time today getting back into the swing of the to-do's. I decided that this week we would "do" history instead of read about history. We are studying the westward expansion and learning about the Oregon Trail so we made a salt-dough map of the United States. Tim was in charge of the grassy areas, Ashley had the rivers and lakes and Nick had the mountains. They did such a good job. We're reading a diary of a young girl who traveled the Oregon Trail with her family so to see how hard it was to travel by foot and wagon made it all the more real to them and to me! I'll post pictures later of our weekend and day.
